'weathering the storm'
This series of small ink wash and mixed media paintings was made during lockdown, at a time when we were not allowed to travel and therefore I was unable to visit the East coast beaches and see the sea and these wee islands that I love so much. The sea and our changeable Scottish weather patterns, which create such beautiful moments of dramatic light and colour, are a combination I find inspiring, therapeutic and emotionally charging. So I found this separation very difficult.
Instead, I drew on my memories of them, imagining them, as we were, isolated and 'weathering the storm'.
'gloaming'
Inspired by a beach walk along the east coast which took longer than expected, the utter beauty of the last light on the beach (the 'gloaming') and stumbling home in the dark!
